Prescription Advice
What Do I Need To Order Online?
Before you order from Sunglasses Direct, you need to have an upto date copy of your prescription. This means you require a prescription taken from an eye test within the last 24 months*. If you do not have a prescription from within this time period, or have never had an eye test we would recommend that you have a professional eye test from any qualified optician in the UK. After your eye test is complete, the Optician will and is obliged to by UK law to issue you with a prescription tailered to you based on their examination.
Got your prescription?
If you already have a valid prescription (please view recommendations above) then view our selection of designer glasses frames and choose the perfect pair custom made for you. If you are familiar with the options available you'll be able to make quick sense of the dropdown options available with our frames to customise your glasses to you and help you make the glasses you choose perfect for you. These include options liek adding thinner lenses and certain coatings to your lenses.
Prescription Information Required:
Our opticians would strongly advise you to ask your optician to include your pupillary distance measurement in your prescription. This is often referred to as your PD.
This distance is not actually something that would appear on your prescription, but it helps ensure your lenses are perfectly suited to you.
*These time limits are necessary because your eyesight may change over time. Plus, they're recommended by joint committees of the Association of British Dispensing Opticians, the Association of Optometrists, and the Federation of Ophthalmic and Dispensing Opticians.
